Master Physics (Version 2026)

• Here you can find Master’s in Physics curriculum (2026 version, only in German).

• The provisional Equivalence Regulation shows you which courses of the ‘new’ Master’s in Physics programme must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the ‘old’ Master’s in Physics programme.

It is currently under review by the Office of the Studienpräses. The final version will be linked here as soon as it has been published in the University Gazette of the University of Vienna.

Information session and advice services

SPL 26 is organising an information session on the new curricula on 19 June 2026 at 2.00 pm in the Lise Meitner Lecture Hall.

The session was recorded and made available as a live stream.

We would also be happy to consult with you on the new curriculum at the SSC Physics during opening hours.

KU Specialisation

Students who have not yet successfully completed the KU ‘Specialisation’ course from the master's programme in Physics (2018 version) will now fulfil the module objectives through the Proposal Seminar and the Master’s Seminar.

Registration for the seminars will be processed by the SSC as soon as the documents relating to the topic and supervision have been received in full and approved.

The registration deadlines are the same as those for the KU Specialisation (winter semester: 1 July – 31 December; summer semester: 1 January – 30 June).

The Master’s seminar is marked by the supervisor, whilst the Proposal seminar is graded by the relevant lecturer. Grading usually takes place at the end of the semester.

If you wish to attend the Proposal Seminar to prepare your proposal for the topic registration, you are free to do so. In this case, you can log in to u:find during the course registration period and complete the seminar. Once your topic has been submitted and approved, the SSC will register you for the Master’s Seminar.
