Defense and Completion of Studies

If your doctoral thesis has been positively evaluated by both reviewers, you can register for the defense.

Defense

Information on the defense

To register, please bring the form registration for doctoral thesis defense (SL/P4) and the confirmation of the survey taken at study-related stays abroad (UHSTAT) to the SSC.

The minimum period between registration and defense is 14 days. Please coordinate the date and examination senate beforehand with the Director of Studies. Rooms can be booked at SSC Physics.

Please email a short description (150 words) in the language in which the defense will be held to the SSC for inviting all faculty members to the defense.

Overall the defense takes 60 minutes. Scheduled for the presentation are 25 minutes.

Please note: If you are applying for a doctorate sub auspiciis praesidentis, please inform the chairman of the examination senate after the defense. Such promotions have to be handled differently by the StudiesServiceCenter.

Final Graduation Documents

After successful completion of the defense, the final documents are delivered via e-mail within four weeks. If you need them printed out, please let us know.
