Checklist for starting successfully into the doctorate/PhD

• The Vienna Doctoral School in Physics coordinates applications for doctoral projects at the Faculty of Physics.
• The office Research Services and Career Development is responsible for the admission to the programme.
  
• A research proposal that gives an overview of the project and its planning must be submitted before the public presentation at the Faculty.
• The public presentation at the Faculty must be completed within one year after enrolment in order for the topic to be approved.
• The next step after the topic has been approved is the doctoral thesis agreement.
• Research has to be documented by annual progress reports.
• After the dissertation project is completed, the thesis is written and submitted. It is evaluated by external experts.
• The doctorate is completed with the defence.
